what about Bartlett yarns? They are similar to peace fleece, but with more color choices.

Check out Kathmandu – it comes in both dk and aran – lots of colors, little flecks of other colors and a dream to knit and wear. It’s part of the Queensland collection. I love the silky wool, but find it isn’t a true dk – more of a light dk.

The two Rowan tweeds would look lovely, though my first instinct was the same as Grumperina’s, the Lavold Silky Wool. It doesn’t have the tweeded colors, but the texture is truely lovely and crunchy. gee the suggestions i was about to make have already been suggested. i’d be going the jo sharp silkroad dk tweed, or the rowan yorkshire tweed or even the rowan harris tweed.
or maybe a dale of norway or garnstudio yarn.

What about Kathmandu Tweed DK? http://www.theknittinggarden.com/qc-kathmandu-dk.htm (Ignore the word “Aran” in that link — there is also an aran weight, but I think the gauge listed is right for the DK.)
Or Jo Sharp silkroad DK tweed? http://theknittinggarden.com/js-silkdktweed.htm
These might not be as earthy, but have lovely flecks of color and a bit of “crunch” from the silk…

NatureWool (something like 30 colors and it seems to knit better at tighter gauges; also economical)? Rosie’s has a tweed by Garnstudio that might work, too. Rowan Felted Tweed?
