A Little Clarity

Kathy got it right — it’s a variation of the Sideways Sox Supreme from Socks Socks Socks. Kathy made a pair a couple years ago. I hadn’t seen hers and it was comforting to see a finished pair. She also commented that the designer has posted an alternative toe that’s supposed to fit a little better. Thanks, Kathy. I plan on giving it a try.
I’m still not convinced these are going to fit but I love the way the yarn is behaving! It looks like a rich, vibrant sunset and Tess’ yarn is so hard-wearing and color-saturated. I’m very happy to be working with her yarn again.
The toe is asymetrical because I’m not done knitting it. I still have a few short rows to go and then a bunch of straight rows. It’s hard to tell if the fit is right but I keep draping it and stretching it around my foot and it looks like it still could fit so I’m still knitting.
BTW, did you see that Tess added a few new yarns? Petite Silk and Petite Cashmere for lace projects and Superwash Merino Petite. Should be interesting to check out at MDSW.

  1. Very interesting and something I would never attempt. I love seeing the development of things I would never try and maybe even changing my mind about them as other people successfully complete them.
I have made a promise to myself that this year I will get something from Tess’ booth…if I get to go to MDSW.
I should be in Philly on Friday to do some work and then hang out. Rosie’s and Loop are the obvious destinations so far.

  2. It’s really hard to tell much about the fit until the sock is finished, since it behaves differently than a traditional sock. I was absolutely sure the one I was making was too small until I finished the last few rows, but it turned out to be just fine. Hoping yours is the same! The sock *looks* lovely, regardless of fit.

  3. Thanks for the heads up on the new Tess’ yarn. I’m going to check out the Superwash Merino Petite for the next Curlicue I’m scheduled to knit. I’ve used Knitpicks Shine for the past two.
I saw one of the previously gifted blankies yesterday and it has held up beautifully through multiple washings but I’d like to try out Tess’!

  4. Hi there! Thanks so much for posting about Tess’s yarn — I love the colors and will make sure to get some at MDSW. Good luck with the sock — it looks great so far!

  5. weird, I have tess sock in that color and there was no pooling… though it does look much more interesting sideways 😉
