edited to add yarn info and sizing below
Last week when I posted about this sweater there seemed to be a decent amount of interest. To my knowledge, the pattern only comes in French — a perfect candidate for a knit along, non?
Let me know if you’re interested and if there are enough people I’ll create another blog for it. We’ll need a place to write to each other and talk through the translations.
Specs
Sizing 33.5, 36, 40, 42.5, 47 in (84, 90, 98, 106, 118 cm)
Yarn Phildar Partner 50% polyamid, 25% wool, 25% acrylic 74 yards (66 m) 11, 12, 13, 14, 16 balls and Phildar Sunset 65% viscose 35% polyester 218 yards (200 m) 4, 4, 5, 5, 6 balls
Gauge I don’t have the pattern yet but it looks like both yarns are held together throughout. The sunset yarn is a metallic laceweight so I’m guessing the sweater’s gauge is similar to Partner’s gauge of 15 sts and 20 rows over 4 in/10 cm.
Needles Partner’s recommended needles are US 8-10 (5-6 mm)
BTW, this (found via the Colchique Along) couldn’t have come at a better time. It’s the best French-English knitting term dictionary I’ve come across.
Oh — and if you have any names for the sweater please leave them in the comments too. If we use the name I’ll send you a little package in return!
Hoo boy, that’s tempting. I *love* that pattern. So. Cute. I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled to see if a knitalong gets going.
Hooboy, I want to make that sweater… Alas, as someone that has only ever knit hats, toys, scarves and mittens I may be in over my head and to add french to that! Any idea how this pattern rates on a difficulty scale, and what sort of/how much yarn is called for? I am intigued but afraid I won’t be able to see it through.
That is a hood, not a shawl collar, right?
Beautiful! How about “Bohemian Rapture”?
ooo I love it, especially in that color. What gauge of yarn does it call for? Worsted? I may just want to join your knitalong!
I love that sweater – I’m curious about the yarn used and the sizing… I *heart* that sweater – it’s so pretty!
MOI MOI MOI I’ll be ordering the book one of these days And folks, I’m fluent in french as I’m a proofreader, so it shouldn’t be too hard for me to help y’all out with the frenchie talk.
Cheers Eva
PS: Reve turquois (french for turquoise dream)… There should be a little “^” on the first “e”, but my puter wouldn’t let me add it…
Love the sweater! Count me in for the knitalong once I can find the pattern (and the help with translation).
Happy Holidays.
Oh my, this is tempting me. So pretty. I will definitely think about this one!
Add me to the list of “Me, too.” I love this sweater!
it’s a very nice design! for the name what about “Sapin” ? I am French speaking so I would be happy to help for the translation!
That is the one sweater I picked out and really want to knit…so I would love to join a knitalong since I do NOT read french I will need help, please. So where is everyone ordering their yarn??
Moi, aussi! I love the design on the cuffs!
The Knit N’ Tyme (http://www.knitntyme.com) sells Phildar Magazines with a English translation. The magazines they translate are limited, but several of their’s are in English.
This is lovely. If there’s a knitalong, let me know! Can’t wait to try a *foreign* pattern — never seen Phildar mags here in our country.
I’d love to join in! That is a BEAUTIFUL sweater!
That is really, really nice. I’m very tempted.
How and where do you bbuy the book?
how about Un Doux Délire since it is a french pattern. It looks soft and snugly!
I would love to make it!
