I’ve only been working on Moyen for the past couple weeks. It’s coming together beautifully – I’m almost done with the waist decreases – but the daydreams of new projects are rampant.
I’m loving Moyen but I need a little variety.
I’ve decided to attempt to make two sweaters for Rhinebeck. After a lot of browsing and project stalking on Ravelry, I’ve decided to make Sugar Maple by Carina Spencer.
I picked Sugar Maple because:
- it’s striking with its use of the Evolutions yarn
- it’s a simple knit – a great foil for Moyen when I want a break
- even though it’s simple, I’ll still feel like I’m wearing something special on the fairgrounds
I’ve decided to get it in the Paramour colorway. The design is done up in their Tasty base – a fingering weight MCN. Twisted Fiber Arts offers coordinating skeins as well, so I’m going to order a bit less than I think I’ll need so I can finish the top with the black shade. There’s a 2-week wait so I still have a couple weeks before I can cast on.
I do have a mod planned – you knew I’d have a mod planned, right? I’m going to knit the bottom straight instead of the V. This silhouette is better for my shape – confirmed by reading Fit to Flatter. I love that book. It confirms why I like – or don’t like – certain shapes on my body. It’s freeing to know there’s a reason why I like the things I like.
So, back to the Rhinebeck planning. I have 2 sweaters planned, but I’m not stopping there. Go big or go home, right? I’m also going to do a wrap that I can wear on the fairgrounds. I think I’ve picked the wrap but I’ll share more of the details of that one next week.
I’ll catch you on the purl side.
My first thought when I saw Sugar Maple was that I would omit that V! Otherwise it’s very striking in that yarn. Looks like a good choice.
Your sugar maple is going to be beautiful in that color! Can’t wait to see it, when you get it.
Sugar Maple will be stunning in that colorway! Nice pattern!
Ooooh, Sugar Maple is gorgeous!!
