Back in January, Carol emailed me to ask if I’d be interested in submitting a design proposal for her upcoming book — Knitting Socks with Handpainted Yarns. At the time I had already started working on Knotions so I wasn’t sure I’d have the time to come up with an idea, never mind the time to knit the socks and write the pattern.
Most of the technical details were finalized during a long car ride to my uncle’s 85th birthday party, and then I knit the socks and wrote the pattern over a span of 9 days (just a few weeks after I announced Knotions). It was a busy month but it was all worth it when I opened up my email today and found out that my socks are on the cover!
What an awesome way to start the weekend!
BTW, IK has also posted a preview of the book and you can take a peek at over 10 more pairs. I see some colorwork, unique stitch patterns and unusual construction methods. Last I heard the book will be out in December.
Wow, the cover! How very awesome, J! The socks are beautiful, and they really showcase the different colors of the yarn. Congrats
congratulations to you for scoring the cover! very awesome!
Congratulations on making the cover!!
Wow, that’s awesome! Congratulations!
Whoa! Cover Socks! Bravo! I really like them too. This may be a “must buy” book.
JODY!! The cover!!! That’s awesome!!!!
I can’t wait to buy this book and knit your cover socks!
Small thing…in my excitement to see your socks listed in the table of contents, I squinted as much as I could to read the tiny text and I’m afraid that your first name is spelled wrong so be sure to check with Carol. Wouldn’t want anyone thinking that some Jodi person designed those socks. Nope, nope, nope, Jody Pirrello did them!
That’s so exciting–congratulations!
Congrats! They really are lovely socks.
Congratulations! Beautiful socks!
congratulations!!
Those socks are awesome and definitely cover worthy! Congrats!
They’re lovely – I really enjoyed the preview!
Cool! I just saw Carol’s post about the book and admired the Interweave preview. I’m definitely a handpaint person but have yet to really be bitten by the sock bug (I’m more of a lace girl, I guess). This book may change all that. Congratulations on the cover!
Hey, I was just thinking about you. Congrats on the cover.
Congratulations, that is so exciting! And making the cover must just be icing on the cake:)
De-lurking to comment on those smashing socks! They’re kind of like mega-Jaywalkers, but the heel flows so nicely into the rest of the patterning…kudos!
These are awesome! I love them!
Missed your blog the past month!
Fabulous! The colors are great and I love the shaping on the foot.
Congrats! They look great and I love the striped-chevron effect. Different!!
Very cool. I love the flow of the chevrons in conjunction with the short row heel.

Congrats, Jody! How thrilling to have your socks on the cover. I love the tiger stripey goodness of them Can’t wait for the Knotions launch too! But I guess I need to be a little more patient for that one.
Again, congrats! So exciting, and you got the cover even!
